Oklahoma City is the solid favorite to win the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer title, according to a vote of league coaches released Monday.

The Stars had the maximum 100 points in the SAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, gaining 10 of 11 first-place votes. Coaches were not permitted to rank their own team.

The Stars were 20-2 last year with a SAC-best 7-1 record in conference.

"I think it's based upon last year's form," said OCU coach Brian Harvey of the poll results. "We graduated three or four key members from last year's team. We have some talented freshmen coming in but experience is a tough thing to replace. To be successful this year we'll have to hope those freshmen mature early."

USAO was second in the poll with 83 points, followed by Oklahoma Baptist with 82. John Brown, which had the remaining first-place vote, finished fourth with 77 points.

Texas Wesleyan is fifth with 61 points with Mid-America Christian in sixth with 53, Northwood is seventh at 51 and Wayland Baptist eighth with 40.

St. Gregory's holds down the ninth slot with 24 points while Southwestern Assemblies of God and Southwestern Christian finished in a tie for 10th with 17 points each.
