A local law enforcement group is turning its back on the mayor.
Oklahoma City's Fraternal Order of Police says a unanimous vote among more than 100 of its members is why the group is endorsing City Councilman Ed Shadid in the upcoming mayoral election.
The officers say Mayor Mick Cornett hasn't done enough to put more police on the street.
"Even as the population has grown and there's urban sprawl and we still have less officers out there answering 9-1-1 calls than we did 20 years ago," said Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police President John George.
He says the other problem the organization has with the current Mayor is lack of communication.
"We work well with the chief of police, but when it comes to the Mayor, we never hear from him," said George.
It's been some time since the local FOP has endorsed a mayor candidate.
Mayor Mick Cornett's office said it would have no comment on the FOP's vote.
