The city of Piedmont decides against getting rid of its police force in order to save money.
Piedmont officials had considered cutting all eight of the city's officers to save hundreds of thousands of dollars, and stick to a very tight budget.
But after hearing from residents and employees of the police department, Piedmont's mayor and city manager decided Monday to keep the police force.
They will now begin contract negotiations with the Fraternal Order of Police.
