About a week ago, the residents at Meadow Ridge Mobile Home Park in Shawnee received a 60-day notice to evacuate their homes by June 10. The notice said the well water was unsafe to drink, and it would cost $200,000 to fix. Now, the water quality claim looks to be untrue.

Pottawatomie County Treasurer Wendy Magnus said Coffeyville, Kansas-based Meadow Ridge Investments has not paid property taxes on the Meadow Ridge Mobile Home Park in four years. They are in arrears $22,000.

There will be a public auction on the steps of the Pottawatomie County Courthouse at 9 a.m. on June 9 for the mobile home park. If not purchased, the county will own the mobile home park.

The Department of Environmental Equality said they are sending out an investigator today or Monday to check out the raw sewage.
