Heartbreak for one Valley Brook family after their 9-year-old son died two weeks after being run over by a truck.
Police are still investigating but said the driver does not appear to be at fault.
The family is still coming to grips with the fact that Victor Salvador Jr. was struck and killed right in front of his home and his two little brothers.
"A 9-year-old loses his life having his whole life ahead of him, it's heartbreaking," family friend Presilla Sanchez said.
Victor's family said they are still in disbelief that a boy so full of life is now gone.
"He was a gift from God," Victor's mom Maria Vargas said.
Maria said she and her husband were at their home in Valley Brook that tragic day two weeks ago when a neighbor's Chevy Tahoe slammed into Victor as he was playing on his skateboard near their driveway. Valley Brook police said it was a tragic accident and that speed and alcohol were not factors.
But it's no consolation to the family who just want Victor back.
Maria stayed by her son's bedside in the hospital until he later died from his injuries.
"He was so full of energy, he had so many friends and people who loved him," she said.
Victor's fourth-grade class and many at Hayes Elementary School wrote him letters in the hospital hoping he would get better.
His 6-year-old little brother Ralph wrote: "Dear Victor, I love you Victor, I want you to play with me again because you used to play with me and Ezekiel."
"He was an animal lover, he was a good friend to all of his fellow classmates, he was a wonderful big brother and a son, he was Victor, he was happy," Sanchez said.
Valley Brook police is still investigating the accident as well as the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, who says charges could still be filed against the driver.
The family has set up a fund for Victor at Chase bank under Victor Manuel Salvador, account number 597737670.
