Valley Brook Boy Dies After Being Hit By SUV

After almost two weeks in critical condition, the Valley Brook boy, who was hit by an SUV, died Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Valley Brook police, the 9-year-old boy died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. The medical examiner's office said the cause of death was cardiac arrest and blunt force trauma to the head.

Police said the boy was playing in the street when he was run over by another neighbor's SUV.

Valley Brook Police Chief Michael Stamp said they are still waiting on the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, but the female driver is not at fault.

Stamp said neither speed nor alcohol was a factor and that this case should alert all drivers to always be aware.

"And I know they shouldn't be playing out in the streets, but when you're in residential neighborhoods, that's a very high possibility and people need to be very vigilant," Stamp said.
