3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Reported Near Helena

The United States Geological Survey reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in Alfalfa County Friday afternoon.

The United States Geological Survey reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in Alfalfa County Friday afternoon.

At 4:42 p.m., a quake was recorded three miles northwest of Helena, 27 miles northwest of Enid, at a depth of over one mile.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
