A local man has a vision for a towering amusement park ride right in the middle of Bricktown.

Brandon Arthur calls it the Bricktown Flyer, a 220-foot glowing spinning swing set that he hopes to erect right next to the canal west of the Bricktown Ballpark.

I'm curious to see what you think of the idea.

My first reaction is that it doesn't fit in, but I will admit I'm a traditionalist. Maybe this is a natural evolution for Bricktown.

My thought is it's perfect for the thrill district, as I call it, down along the river where the ropes course and river crossing zip line are already drawing visitors and where soon they'll start construction on the white water rapids course… or even in the future Central Park.

By the way, tonight there was a public gathering, a brainstorming session on what to do build along the banks of the Oklahoma River in what is now called the Wheeler District.

It's the old downtown airpark area along Western Avenue and North across the river.

I rode my bike along the trail through there last weekend, and I realized the tremendous potential for that area.

I'm telling you the Oklahoma River is going to boom over the next 10 years.
