Attorney for OU linebacker Frank Shannon held a press conference Friday afternoon.

Shannon was accused of sexually assaulting a female student at an off-campus apartment in January, but no charges were filed.

The University of Oklahoma conducted its own investigation and found Shannon guilty of violating its sexual conduct policy and, in June, decided to suspend him for one year.

The press conference started with Shannon's attorney, Aletia Timmons, talking about Shannon's achievements as a student and his upbringing.

She says Shannon refused to have sexual intercourse with the female student, and despite the evidence that shows Shannon did nothing wrong, he was still suspended.

Timmons says when Shannon first came to her, she had him polygraphed and he passed with a high score. She also mentioned the "insufficient evidence" and how the "victim declined to prosecute."

Shannon's attorney says he was removed from the depth chart after the Supreme Court filing, but he will be allowed to attend classes and workout with the team.

She says Coach Stoops can still play Shannon, but it is her understanding that he is not slated to play.

Timmons provided the following statement from Frank Shannon: "I will not quit. I will fight to defend my name. I will stand on the sideline in silent protest."
