Firefighters have contained a house fire in southwest Oklahoma City, Friday morning.
According to the fire department, crews responded to the fire at a home located near S.W. 19th Street and S. Santa Fe Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing heavy smoke and flame coming out of the second story of the two-story home.
Firefighters controlled the fire relatively quickly considering the amount of fire they encountered. Fire officials said it appears that the fire began on the front porch due to cigarette butts that had been placed in a combustible (possibly wooden) receptacle of some kind. The fire spread up the corner of the porch, through the soffit, and into the second story and attic.
No one was home at the time, and no one was injured.
Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD flew over the scene. Pilot Jim Gardner reported that the upper portion of the home sustained heavy damage. There was smoke and water damage on the first floor, including in the attached garage.
