Among the inductees for the 2016 Oklahoma Hall of Fame is none other than Russell Westbrook. Thunder teammate Kevin Durant was inducted last year.
From the Oklahoma Hall of Fame site:
Beyond Westbrook’s accomplishments on the court, he has taken a leading role in advancing the state through his community and philanthropic efforts. Westbrook’s ‘Why Not? Foundation’ is dedicated to supporting community based education and family service programs while encouraging youth to believe in themselves. Whether it’s Thanksgiving meals to the homeless, giving away shoes and backpacks to children during the holiday season or opening another one of his signature ‘Russell’s Reading Rooms,’ Westbrook has made it a top priority to better the community in which he lives. In 2015,Westbrook was recognized with the NBA’s season long Community Assist award for his philanthropic efforts.
Entering the Hall of Fame with Westbrook are Troy Aikman, Rita Bly Aragon, Michael Burrage, Dan Dillingham, Becky Dixon and Kelli O'Hara.
The five-time All-Star had a career season in 2015-16 recording 18 triple-doubles, the most since Magic Johnson’s 1981-82 run. The Thunder are tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven Western Conference Finals series with Golden State.
