The Thunder will play a pair of preseason games in Spain against Euroleague Basketball teams Real Madrid and FC Barcelona Lassa as part of NBA Global Games Europe, the NBA announced today.
Oklahoma City is slated to play nine-time Euroleague Champion and 33-time Spanish League Champion Real Madrid in Madrid on Oct. 3 at the Barclaycard Center, before travelling to Barcelona to face 18-time Spanish League Champion and two-time Euroleague Champion FC Barcelona Lassa on Oct. 5 at the Palau Sant Jordi.
Real Madrid features several former NBA players including Mexican center Gustavo Ayon, Italian forward Andres Nocioni and Spanish guard Rudy Fernandez along with Spanish Olympic teammates Sergio Llull, Sergio Rodriguez and Willy Hernangomez.
Barca Lassa features Thunder international Alex Abrines, so this will be a good test of Abrines' NBA-readiness.
Oklahoma City is participating in the Global Games Europe for the first time since 2013 when the Thunder faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers in Manchester, England and Fenerbahçe Ulker in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Thunder will announce the remainder of its 2016 preseason schedule at a later date.
