Your 2 Cents: Oklahoma Furloughed Workers Thankful For Help

Tuesday night's commentary reminds me how easy it is to be misunderstood, you'll see what I'm talking about in a moment.

I addressed my own personal experience volunteering at a Regional Food Bank distribution event for furloughed federal workers. And I said I didn't see any anger about the shutdown, some frustration but mainly gratitude.

Here's what you had to say:

Joyce first, "Kelly that is how proud people act. Shame on you for not caring."

Lori, from Broken Arrow, "The fact, that people with government jobs "feel thankful for help" to put food on the table from charity, should outrage everyone!"

Jerry from Edmond says, "He was implying people aren't mad and they are OK with not being paid in over month on this shutdown. That's just not true."

No, Jerry I wasn't.

Sean writes, "If you do not think they are angry you are wrong... They will not take it out on people helping them. What is wrong with your perception Mr. Ogle?"

I was actually there Sean.  However, it seems my commentary Tuesday night left me looking out of touch. I would have been better understood if I would have said they checked their anger at the door and were grateful for the helping hand.

I'm not for the shutdown and believe, as I said a couple of weeks ago, it's now more about jockeying for position for the next presidential election.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's Your 2 Cents.
