If you've watched my commentaries for any time at all, you know I've been pretty hard on Kevin Durant for the way he departed Oklahoma City.
He gave Oklahoma City nine great seasons, but when he unexpectedly dashed to join the World Champions. It was just weak. He took the easy road to a title, and then another one.
Most Thunder fans, myself included, lost a lot of respect for Durant that day.
Well, he has now earned some of that back, at least with me.
Durant has announced he will return to Oklahoma City for the March 20 game, when Mr. Thunder, Nick Collison's, jersey is retired.
He told ESPN, "It's about time for us to let go of all that extra stuff and just come together, especially around this time because it's Nick.”
That is what it sounded like the first time he returned to Oklahoma City after joining the Warriors. I was there. The boos were deafening every time he walked onto the court or touched the ball.
I don't expect a replay of that night when he comes back for Collison. But if the returning players are introduced individually, there might be some booing. I hope not.
I agree with Durant it's time to move on.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
