Metro Tech is partnering with the Central Oklahoma Workforce Innovation Board (COWIB) to host a career fair on Mar. 6 at the Metro Tech Conference Center. Attendees will be able to explore career opportunities with various local organizations, as well as network with professionals in a variety of fields.
Employers at the fair will include the Oklahoma City Thunder, Oklahoma Juvenile Affairs, the City of Edmond, Precision Physical Therapy, and more.
News 9 was joined by Metro Tech Superintendent and CEO Aaron Collins to discuss the upcoming fair.
The Central Oklahoma Workforce Innovation Board is an Oklahoma-based nonprofit organization designed to improve the community through education and connecting employers with prospective employees. COWIB is incorporated under the laws of Oklahoma, and is recognized by the Governor's Council for Economic and Workforce Development, the State Workforce Investment Board, and the Governor as the proper body to carry out the purposes and functions of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act of 2014.
The fair encourages an open-minded approach, allowing attendees to explore the available employers and have a chance for valuable networking opportunities.
The event will also feature door prizes.
Attendees should dress professionally and bring a resume. Attendees should also be prepared for impromptu interviews, as some employers may be willing to give them on the spot.
Metro Tech is hosting the fair on their Spring Lake campus, at 1900 Spring Lake Dr. in Oklahoma City, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information can be found on the career fair page of Metro Tech's website.
