Two people are arrested following a deadly shooting in southwest Oklahoma City involving a woman who drove into a church after being shot.
Police say Ryan Jones and a juvenile female were arrested following the shooting Tuesday afternoon on Southwest 38th Street.
Police say that a video captured by Redemption Church shows Jasmin Chavez driving to a nearby parking lot where the juvenile got into her passenger seat. Shortly after, Jones walked up.
According to court documents, Jones and the juvenile met with Jasmin Chavez to buy drugs from her. Unknowingly to Chavez, the two planned to rob her.
Authorities say Jones pulled out a gun and fired three shots.
The video shows Chavez speeding off in her maroon-colored Trailblazer but not getting far as she crashed into Redemption Church.
“We believe that it may have been an isolated incident, but again, they’re still trying to gather information, so if anyone has seen anything or heard anything, we encourage them to call,” said Officer Denisha Lambeth.
Chavez was taken to a local hospital where police say she died from a gunshot wound to the torso.
The mother of the juvenile had been on the phone with her daughter and called the police letting them know her daughter admitted to being involved in the shooting with a guy.
Police later arrested Jones and the girl with Jones admitting the planning of the robbery and the girl denying knowing that.
