Three Men Hurt In Shooting Outside NE Oklahoma City Restaurant, No Arrests Made

An investigation is underway after a shootout in front of a Northeast Oklahoma City restaurant. Police said three men were shot and two of the victims were critically hurt.

There were multiple blood trails left in the parking lot of This Iz It Wings and Waffles near northeast 23rd street and Bryant Avenue where the victims were hit. Police said there was a shootout that involved several people. Police do not know the motive behind the shootings.

The shopping strip sat silent on Friday after gunshots rang out the night before.

“There was an argument or altercation there that escalated to an exchange of gunfire,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Soon after lights and sirens filled the area. Police marked off the parking lot with yellow tape after officers found one man shot in the head and a second man shot in the face, arms, and torso.

“Two people were taken via ambulance to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries,” said Quirk. “One of those two were taken into surgery, expected to survive.”

A third person showed up the hospital by private vehicle. Witnesses reported seeing a black Tahoe leave the area after shooting, but the SUV returned to the scene. The driver was detained for questioning, police said the man was not arrested.

“We have identified everyone involved including the persons involved in the shooting,” said Quirk.

Officers interviewed witness and searched a nearby wooded area for evidence.  

“They were able to track down one of the pieces of evidence or a firearm there near the business,” said Quirk.
