The City of Bartlesville has come up with a new way to get more people to understand how city government works.

Roughly 20 people will get the opportunity to participate in the Bartlesville Citizens Academy to learn more about what city government can and cannot do.

People will get the chance to see how the city government works when it comes to hiring people, how public safety works, and look at the services the city provides.

Bartlesville city officials believe they do a good job being transparent. However, Assistant City Manager Tracy Roles said the goal is to continue to be open with residents about how things work.

"We can never do too much as a city. Not just here in Bartlesville, but any city can never do too much as far as communication and being open and honest, with those whose tax dollars we spend in service of them," Roles said.

Anyone who is 18 or older who either lives in Bartlesville, works in Bartlesville, or owns a business in Bartlesville is eligible to apply for the program on the city website.

Applications are due on March 1. CLICK HERE for more information about the program.
