EMSA is asking anyone interested in becoming an EMT to apply for paid training through the EMSA Advantage EMT Training Class.

EMSA Advantage is a way for EMSA to bring in more EMTs through an internal training, instead of relying on schools outside the Tulsa area.

Anyone 18 and older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent can apply. You don't need any medical experience either.

Paul Shelden, a graduate from one of the first EMSA Advantage classes in 2022, said he was in the Coast Guard and then worked as a mechanic.

"They provide you with literally everything you need to be successful as an EMT. Within our system from day one, the instructors were very informative, very positive. They wanted everybody to succeed here at EMSA. (They) wanted all of us in the class to succeed," Shelden said.

Those interested in applying can do so online. The deadline to apply is February 17.

However, you can reach out to recruiters at EMSA before then if you want to learn more.
