Four games into American Athletic Conference play, the theme for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane is "needing to finish strong."

TU is 0-4 in conference play, but there have been plenty of bright spots. The average margin of victory in those four losses has been just 5.75 points. The Hurricane pushed No. 15 Memphis until the very end in the conference opener, and dropped a tough game in overtime to Tulane Sunday.

Freshman PJ Haggerty is a rising star, leading the team at 18.9 ppg (which is 2nd in the AAC), and was just named the conference Freshman of the Week for the 6th time already this season.

Despite the close calls and tough losses so far in conference play, Eric Konkol and the Hurricane know there is time to turn things around with 14 games left on the schedule. And that starts Wednesday night when the UTSA Roadrunners visit the Reynolds Center. UTSA is 7-10 on the season, 1-3 in the AAC.

Coach Konkol met with the media on Tuesday to preview the game against the Roadrunners, and to give his early thoughts on conference play.
