Catoosa Public Schools is launching a new app to let students and parents know when their bus arrives in real time.
Catoosa Public Schools says it gets lots of calls from a parent with bus concerns. The district decided to add this app to better serve parents and show concern for students. The app is a location-tracking device that will let bus riders know when their bus is arriving, delayed, and approaching stops.
People with access to this information, include the Director of Transportation, school administrators, and parents. Brad Taylor is the Transportation Director for Catoosa Public Schools and says the district paid for the app with a safety grant.
Taylor says their buses travel to rural areas and cities, and the goal is for parents to have as much information as possible. He says parents who use ‘BusWhere’ will benefit greatly from the app.
“It will alert them when the bus is almost to the bus stop. The kids will not have to stand out in the rain or in the cold any longer than they have to. It will also give an alert when they’re almost at the school,” Taylor said.
Taylor says the app will be available to use next month once all the buses at Catoosa Schools have been equipped with the GPS hardware.
