On December 12th, Oklahoma City voters will decide whether or not to fund a new arena for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The deadline to register is midnight November 17th. You can learn how to register to vote here.
Only Oklahoma City residents are eligible, but keep in mind Oklahoma City stretches into parts of Cleveland, Pottawatomie and Canadian counties.
There's only one question on the ballot, should the penny sales tax continue temporarily to fund a new arena.
In Oklahoma County, the election board says it's sent out 7000 absentee ballots and has so far gotten about 200 back.
So far, around 371,000 voters in the city are registered.
The last time the city held a vote in December a little over 44,000 showed up.
“The turnout for any election, particularly when you’re getting into the month of December, it kind of drops off a little bit because there’s so many other distractions,” Doug Sanderson of the Oklahoma County Election Board said.
The county election board says, so far, new registrations are at the usual level. This election hasn't brought a significant increase.
They also recommend registering in person at the county election board to make sure it is done on time.
