A man is dead after leading deputies on a high speed chase that ended in a crash on Lake Hefner Parkway Sunday.

Jeff Riess was driving up to 120 miles per hour, according to police, when he crashed his car into an overpass.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office says deputies attempted to pull over Riess near 178th and MacArthur because they believed he was involved in an attempted burglary from earlier in the day.

The Sheriff’s Office says they had previously arrested Riess when he allegedly fired a gun at his girlfriend. Authorities say Riess had fired the gun inside the home and had threatened to kill his girlfriend, deputies and himself. Riess was arrested that night, but was released on a $1000 bond.

The alleged break-in on Sunday was at the same house Reiss had previously been arrested at.
