A metro mother is charged with neglecting her children, whom police said they found living in a house littered with feces and maggots.
Oklahoma City police officers uncovered the filth after neighbors called 911 and reported a woman who was attempting to throw her children into oncoming traffic.
Curious neighbors spilled out of their homes near Southwest 29th Street and South Portland Avenue where police confronted Khadijah Bourgeois.
“Was causing quite a disturbance in the neighborhood, yelling, screaming, threatening some harm to some children.,” said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Dillon Quirk.
In court filings neighbors told police Bourgeois was screaming "she was going to kill her children and herself." “It appeared she was under the influence of some type of narcotics,” said Quirk.
Police said the mother "admitted to being under the influence of marijuana," and said "she didn't know if it had PCP on it."
Officers entered the family's home. “When they went inside, really just some deplorable conditions,” said Quirk.
Police found feces piled up in the toilet, and said the home had no running water or edible food. Police said Bourgeois' four children had not been bathed. “The kids were taken into DHS custody,” said Quirk.
