Daylight Savings Time went into effect last week, and while you technically get an extra hour as the time falls back, the change of schedule can still mess with your sleep.
News 9’s Jordan Ryan spoke with Kiera Muckey, a dynamic personal trainer at Lifetime Fitness, who said adults should strive for 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night.
Her first tip for getting a good night’s sleep is to set a consistent bedtime schedule.
“Setting an alarm for the time you want to start winding down is so important, as well as eliminating blue lights and maybe starting some meditation,” Muckey said. “Start slowing down your mind, slowing down your body, so that you can make that happen.”
Muckey also said that reducing stress can help you sleep. She recommends stretching, yoga, and meditation to help your body relax.
“Really helps slow our mind down, decrease our blood pressure, and help us get to sleep,” Muckey said.
Lastly, she recommends having a consistent workout routine to help manage stress and help you maintain a restful sleep.
She says that Lifetime Fitness offers many different ways to get your body ready for a good night’s rest.
“We have tons of personal trainers on staff who are excited to help, as well as hundreds of classes throughout the week,” Muckey said.
