The death of a 2-year-old that died in August after being hit by a vehicle in Yukon has been ruled as an accident, police say.

No charges have been filed against a driver who Yukon Police determined accidentally struck and killed a 2-year-old child in a restaurant parking lot in Yukon.

On Aug. 7, 2-year-old Ismael Perez was walking with his parents near Northwest 10th Street and Garth Brooks Boulevard when a vehicle struck Perez, severely injuring him.

Officials said police and fire officials that responded to the scene provided lifesaving efforts to Perez before he was hospitalized.

Family of Perez said he died at the hospital. Yukon Police determined the driver was not at fault and the death is being considered as an accident.

A 2-year-old child that died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday morning at a restaurant in Yukon has been identified, authorities say.

Family said Ismael Perez died at the hospital. Yukon Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

According to city officials, the collision happened just before noon near Northwest 10th Street and Garth Brooks Boulevard, where Perez was walking with his parents in the parking lot.

Officials say police and fire immediately responded to the scene and provided lifesaving efforts before the child was taken to the hospital.

"The investigation into the collision is ongoing, and our dedicated team of investigators will thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle involved will be interviewed to gather further information," the Yukon Police Department said in a press release Saturday afternoon.
