Sassy Mama Sits Down With Chef Christina Wilson Of Ramsay's Kitchen

Gordon Ramsay is opening his new restaurant, Ramsay's Kitchen, in the Chisolm Creek area on Thursday.

News 9's Sassy Mama sat down with Chef Christina Wilson to discuss the restaurant and its menu.

Wilson rose to fame on season 10 of Ramsay’s show “Hell’s Kitchen,” Ramsay continued to invest in her career after the show. Wilson serves as the Vice President of Culinary for Gordon Ramsay North America and helps develop culinary teams for restaurants owned by Ramsay. 

Most recently, Ramsay’s Kitchen in Oklahoma City. 

Wilson said that investing in communities is very important for Ramsay. They hire locally, and Wilson’s team trains them. 

“It helps the community, and it helps us thread into the community,” Wilson said. “They also have great relationships with the vendors; they know the ins and outs of the city.” 

Wilson said Ramsay and his team are able to recognize cities that are emerging in the culinary world, and it is his goal to open restaurants that illuminate the entire area and not just his work. 

“You have a lot of great independent restaurants in the city…Gordon recognizes that, so we can come in and help illuminate this area, bring a little more press around, and that will trickle down to the local chefs,” Wilson said. 

The restaurant is a nod to traditional British cuisine as well as local cuisine with a twist. 

Ramsay’s Kitchen will be serving a dish called scotch eggs, which the team specifically chose with OKC in mind. 

 “We created this, we thought…what are a few things from the UK that we thought Oklahoma might really be into,” Wilson said. 

The dish is a soft-boiled egg wrapped in sausage, double breaded with panko bread crumbs, and then deep fried. 

The restaurant has different specials throughout the week, such as shepherd's pie on Saturday, roast on Sunday, and steak frites on Monday.
