The OSBI is involved in an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a Chickasha man, Richard Houston, who has been missing since August. His sister, Kimberly Adair says he was last seen outside the Life Skills Institute in Chickasha, a haven for people experiencing homelessness.

"He had gone outside to smoke a cigarette and he just never came back in," she said. "That's pretty much all we know."

The pain of the uncertainty hangs heavy on Adair.

"It's just not like him," she says.

Her 46-year-old brother was last seen on August 31st. The OSBI now taking over the investigation.

"It's just heart breaking to me because I don't know if he's okay," she said. "That's all I want to know is if he's okay and he's safe."

Kimberly says her brother experienced addiction problems and homelessness.

"He came back in and decided to do the hard work," she said.

This led him to the Life Skills Institute and Resurrection House, where he was living.

"And I think that's one of the issues… the stigma," she said. "They think oh well they've had some issues. They've been homeless, and don’t want to be found. Well, that's not always the case."

Kimberly doesn't believe her brother would leave without a word.

"It's just not like him,” she said. "Because he doesn't go this long without contacting me."

And according to his sister, Richard was on an upward trend.

"For one, he'd been clean since June," she explained.

She also said he was holding a job, utilizing services at the Life Skills Institute-- well on his way to getting an apartment.

"He was doing great; he was doing great," she said.

As the OSBI continues their investigation, Kimberly is holding out hope that answers will replace the uncertainty.

"I don't want to give up," she said tearfully.

The OSBI told News 9 they can't comment on the active investigation, but if you know anything about Richard Houston’s whereabouts, contact OSBI at 1-800-522-8017
