A man accused of leading officers on a chase across the Oklahoma City metro has been identified, police said.

Authorities apprehended the driver of the Ford F-150, identified as Nicholas Van Brunt, as well as a female passenger in the vehicle.

Oklahoma City Police said the chase began as an attempted traffic stop, but ended with two people being detained and at least one gun being recovered from inside the car.

The pursuit started along Northwest 39th Street in the city, headed westbound into Yukon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol attempted a tactical vehicle intervention, which was ineffective. Authorities attempted to try again, but the truck sped away even faster.

At one point the truck involved drove against oncoming traffic, but eventually came to a stop along the side of eastbound Interstate 40 near Rockwell Avenue.

OCPD stated the female passenger was taken into custody, but not arrested.

Officers say Van Brunt had multiple felony warrants from Oklahoma, Canadian, and Kay Counties.
