Supply Issues Plague High-Demand Drug Wegovy, Leaving Many Unable To Access It

People across the country are having trouble getting the weight-loss drug Wegovy because it’s so popular.

Wegovy is made by the same company that makes Ozempic, which is a drug doctors prescribe to diabetic patients to manage their blood sugar levels.

The manufacturer started making a weight loss version, Wegovy, after a significant number of patients reported weight loss. It was so popular that it led to a shortage last year.

The makers of Wegovy had to stop shipping just to get caught up.

Oklahoma doctors said the company behind the drug promised it wouldn't happen again, but it looks to be the same problem

Doctors said if people who want to take Wegovy can't get those initial doses right now, the doctor and patient can at least start that weight loss journey through lifestyle modifications.
