Driver Arrested After Deadly 7-Vehicle Crash Near Wynnewood

The man accused of killing two people in a seven-vehicle crash on Wednesday near Wynnewood is behind bars.

The man accused of killing two people in a seven-vehicle crash on Wednesday near Wynnewood is behind bars.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they're in the beginning phase of a post-crash inspection. The semi-truck driver involved in the crash is facing two counts of first-degree manslaughter.

An arrest warrant said Tony Aghaji Enweremadu is the man responsible for a seven-vehicle collision on Interstate 35.

The crash involved five semis and two cars.

“It appears as if traffic was completely stopped or slowly moving when a semi truck... Struck the passenger car, going over that car on top of it, into another semi,” OHP Trooper Eric Foster said.

Two people were killed, Conrad Rodgers and a woman who has not been identified.

The white Honda they were driving is ripped to shreds. Court documents said the driver received a Ring doorbell notification for a delivery on his phone. He was talking to the delivery person through the app when he noticed the traffic stopped.

Investigators also learned he smoked marijuana before his shift.

Although Aghajj Enweremadu is behind bars, Trooper Tanner Beckner said the investigation is just beginning.

He said OHP investigates all crashes that occur on U.S. or state highways.

“So the manner in which the bricks were being transported by the commercial motor vehicle did meet the federal regulations as far as being inside an enclosed trailer,” Beckner said.

There's still questions they need to answer like the condition of lights, tires and brakes.

“We're just going to verify that one the driver was able to drive that particular commercial motor vehicle, checking his class of license, any endorsements that he might require, and also we're going to make sure that all his loads are secured properly,” Beckner said.

Beckner said a violent crash like this could take weeks to investigate.

“We're going to make sure that everything was in accordance prior to the crash and do our best to investigate that way,” Beckner said.

Aghaji Enweremadu was asked to write a statement recounting the events. He ended it by apologizing to the victims.
