Two people are dead, and an officer is shot during a domestic disturbance in Blanchard. It happened at a home located near Northeast 70th Street and Highway 76 in McClain County where investigators say the suspect killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

According to investigators, Ashley Pfannenstiel filed a victim’s protective order on her husband, Konrad Pfannenstiel, about a week ago. When officers responded to the domestic call this morning, police say they were met with gunfire.

“We didn't hear anything,” said Matthew Goering, a neighbor.

However, Goering soon saw the commotion.

“It’s really shocking,” he said. “We saw all the police and OSBI down there.”

The domestic disturbance call came in around 4 am, when the McClain County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect showed up to the home. When a Blanchard police officer and two sheriff’s deputies responded, they were met with gunfire.

“They exchanged gunfire, the Blanchard officer was shot by the suspect struck twice,” said Capt. Bryan Murrell with the McClain County Sheriff’s Department.

The officer was hit twice, in the arm and leg.

“All of our officers are highly trained. They reacted like they should,” said Capt. Murrell. “Proud of the work they did getting the officer out to get him help and to the hospital.”

Investigators say the suspect barricaded himself inside the house. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s tactical team arrived and after two hours, got inside and found the suspect and his wife both deceased.

“We don't know anything about that couple,” said Goering. “I think they're pretty new to that house only lived there a few months.”

“It's a tragic situation out here we'll be dealing with it for some time to come,” said Capt. Murrell.

The couple lived in the home with two young children, who were not home at the time and safe with family members. The officer was taken to OU Medical Center where he is expected to be okay. The case remains under investigation.
