The Oklahoma City Police Department identified the victim of a deadly shooting that happened at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of W. I-240 Service Road.

OCPD said the department responded to a possible shooting in the area, and found one person injured and a child who had witnessed the event.

The two told officers that 52-year-old Maria Aguilar had been shot by 39-year-old Dario Acebedo. Officers said they later learned Dario and Maria were previously in a relationship and shared a child together.

It is unknown if the child found at the scene is the child of Aguilar and Acebedo.

After speaking with the victim, investigators learned the suspect was still inside the apartment and had possibly harmed himself. OCPD said officers attempted to call the suspect outside but got no response.

Acebedo later exited the apartment, where he was taken into custody with apparent self-inflicted wounds, according to Oklahoma City Police.

Investigators said the event started when Maria Aguilar and Dario Acebedo became involved in an altercation after Dario showed up unannounced at the apartment. This altercation led to Mr. Acebedo shooting and killing Maria and shooting and injuring another adult female, who was the one found and questioned at the scene when police arrived. That victim is expected to recover.

Acebedo was transported to a hospital in the area where he was treated, released and later booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of first-degree murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
