One person is dead after two consecutive crashes on the Broadway Extension early Wednesday morning, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department.

It all started with a blown tire, troopers said.

The first vehicle was driving northbound on the Broadway Extension when the truck's front tire blew and caused the truck to drive into the cement median.

The median did not stop the truck, instead it launched it.

"Projected that vehicle over that median barrier, and the vehicle came to rest," OCPD Sgt. Dillon Quirk said.

"They were able to walk away from that vehicle and make their way to the side of the highway. They were scraped up, banged up, nothing too serious," Quirk said.

Someone pulled over to help the two people in the vehicle when the second crash happened.

"The driver of that vehicle was taken to an area hospital, sadly pronounced deceased," Quick said.

"It happened early this morning, so it's unclear if that driver just didn't see the vehicle in the roadway. It was a dark colored vehicle that was resting in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle had its caution blinkers on,” Quirk said.

Investigators don't believe anything criminal was at play, and the crash was just a tragic accident.

Police still don't know what exactly caused the second crash.
