A bag of cash was reported stolen on Wednesday from a northwest Oklahoma City 7-Eleven manager's car during an alleged robbery.

The manager of the store told responding officers she was on duty at the time. However, the report stated there were inconsistencies in the woman’s statements.

The store’s managers said she was pepper-sprayed and forced to hand over tens of thousands in cash that was on the way to deposit.

Officers were called just before 9 a.m. to the 7-Eleven at Northwest 122nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The victim told police she was on her way to make a large cash deposit for the store and put two bags of money in her car.

“At some point an unknown person approached her when she was in her vehicle,” Sgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department said. “Quickly grabbed the bag, pepper sprayed the employee before taking off with it.”

The woman ran to a truck in the store's parking lot. The driver was an off-duty security officer.

He told News 9 by phone the woman smelled like pepper spray, but he could not offer police anything else.

“He contacted police and stated that he had just arrived and did not witness the event,” Quirk said.

The victim told officers she did not see the suspect's face only saw their "bright green shoes." Robbery detectives checked the store's security video and noted in the report there was not any clear evidence on camera of a robbery.

“There seemed to be some inconsistencies between the original account, the statement and what was on that video,” Quirk said.

As of now, the only witness to the crime was the alleged victim.

“We’re looking for someone who might have seen something,” Quirk said.

The company’s corporate office offered a statement in response to News 9’s request:

“The safety of sales associates is of the utmost importance. We are saddened by this incident and are focused on supporting those impacted and working with law enforcement to learn about how it occurred. The investigation remains in progress, therefore, additional information about the incident is best suited for law enforcement who are taking the lead in the investigation.” -7-Eleven, Inc.
