Mother & Daughter Team Up To Write Inspiring Book

A book three years in the making is now hitting shelves, challenging readers to conquer their fears.  

Mindy Nix and her daughter Suzan Huffman are extremely close, so, when Mindy’s husband challenged them to write a book together, the process was natural.  

“Writing a book was perfect because we are kind of the yin and the yang to each other,” said Huffman.  

Both ladies are French professors, so they took from some of their experiences and titled the book, “The French Professor.”  

“It’s obviously a fictional character. We wanted her to be single, we wanted her to be fully focused on herself and her journey, so it’s not her and it’s not me,” said Huffman.  

The book centers around a middle-aged woman named Margaret who dealing with life’s challenges and changes.  

“You can be held back by them it’s your choice and not go get out there in the world, or you can be like the character in this book and choose to just do it anyway,” said Nix. 

The book is written from a woman’s perspective, but it’s impacting both women and men. James McGough read the book in less than two days.  

“I moved out of corporate America into the humanities, that’s why this book meant a lot to me, somebody took that kind of risk,” aid McGough. 

While the story isn’t the story of the authors, they couldn’t help but contribute some of their experiences.  

“We both have a lot of anxieties and fears just like the character in the book, and we’ve really tried hard to push through them and live life to the fullest and we hope this book is inspiring,” said Nix.
