Oklahoma City police arrested a man accused of posing as a federal agent and holding a man at gunpoint inside an apartment last Friday. The police report indicated Alexander Donato, 29, terrorized the victim for nearly 15 hours. It all started with a 3 a.m. knock on the victim's apartment door near northwest 16th Street and MacArthur Boulevard.

“Opened the door,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “There’s a man there who forces his way in, and he’s armed with a gun.”

The armed suspect claimed to be an agent for ICE and the FBI. According to the report, Donato told the victim he had a search warrant and was looking for a drug dealer named Brian.

Donato went through the victim's belongings all while pointing the gun at the frightened man. At one point threatened the victim by saying, "If you try to leave, I will shoot you."

“It seems the victim initially believed him in spite of the really strange behavior,” said Knight.

At one point the suspect knocked the gun down and charged the victim. Donato pinned the man on the ground.

“The two have a scuffle for a few minutes before the suspect regains control of the gun,” said Knight.

Police said Donato then demanded the man's car keys. The suspect allegedly kept the gun to the victim's back while they walked to the car.

“They get in the car and drive around, allegedly under the auspices of looking for the suspect’s partner who is supposed to be law enforcement,” said Knight.

Hours went by before the victim was able to call police. He went to the apartment management office to wait for police. Officers found Donato in the man's apartment. He explained to them why he was in the stranger’s apartment all day.

“He was making reference to trying to find drugs, people dealing drugs,” said Knight. “Indicated a relative of his died as a result of drug use.”

Donato was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of burglary, kidnapping, assault, pointing a firearm and drug possession.
