The Oklahoma County Sherriff's Office is working on a three-part initiative including increased patrols and deputies becoming more familiar with buildings in the districts.

Officials said that recent events have encouraged a more prepared future.

"We learned a lot from Uvalde," OCSO public information officer Aaron Brilbeck said. "We really need to know the layout of each of our schools and we want officers to know and understand each of the schools."

The OCSO said it will also focus on bus safety.

If drivers pass a school bus with a stop sign up, deputies said they will be ticketed.
