Firefighters Gain Ground On Large Caddo County Fire

Update 10:30 PM: Firefighters were able to make progress on a large grass fire in Caddo County Saturday.

The New Hope Fire Department said two firefighters had to run for their lives, but they were not injured.

They also lost a brush pumper in the fire.

Several hundred acres burned but now crews have a handle on it.

Firefighters expect it to smolder for days.

A large grass fire is burning Saturday in Caddo County.

News 9's Sylvia Corkill spoke with authorities who said at least 10 different fire departments are fighting the flames.

Authorities said several hundred acres have burned so far and one of the fire departments lost a brush pumper in the fire.

Firefighters say this is a tough fire to fight because of the cedar trees and canyons in the area.
