Cooking expert Sassy Mama shows us how to make a recipe for sparking strawberry lemonade.
Ingredients
1 cup lemon juice
About six lemons
1 to 1 1/2 cups simple syrup*
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
1 quart sparkling water
ice cubes
Fresh mint (for garnish)
2 cups sugar, 2 cups water (for the simple syrup)
Directions
In a medium size sauce pan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a simmer stirring occasionally to make sure the sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove the syrup pan from the heat and allowed to cool completely.
In a large pitcher, put the sliced strawberries in and swirl with a half a cup of the simple syrup.
Use an immersion blender to blend in the pitcher or if you don’t have that just blend together in the blender until it is a pulp.
Add the remaining simple syrup, lemon juice and sparkling water to the pitcher and stir.
Serve over ice with a sprig of mint on top. Store remaining lemonade covered in the refrigerator for up to five days.
