Oklahoma City’s Canton Restaurant announced Tuesday morning that they have closed.
The Tse family made the announcement on Facebook, citing a readiness to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. Here was their announcement in full:
Dear Canton family,
We hope you have had a wonderful holiday weekend. I'm sure many of you have heard the bittersweet news that on Christmas Eve, we served our last egg roll as our family has decided to shut down the restaurant and enjoy a well-deserved retirement. We apologize if this comes as a total shock to some of you, but we wanted to continue to give you guys the level of service you're so used to receiving from us, so we didn’t want to overwhelm our small team by announcing our closing on social media. Word still got out, and you guys did not disappoint in coming to show your support and love for us and we are so touched.
We are so thankful for having been given the opportunity to serve our loyal customers over the past 51 years. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you and your part in making Canton Restaurant one of the longest-running and most-recognized Chinese restaurants in Oklahoma. Whether it was a work lunch, a first date, or a dinner spent with loved ones, we are honored to have been able to dish up the delicious Chinese food that brought you and yours together.
Many of you have been dining with us for years—some since the very beginning—and it has been an absolute delight getting to know you and watching your families grow. Without a doubt, Canton’s loyal customers are the main reason for its 51 years of success, and we will miss serving you all. Words can’t express how much your business and friendship have meant to us. We look forward to your continued friendship in our retirement. Thank you for everything. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for any updates!
With all the love,
The Tse Family
