Tulsa Police arrested a suspected bank robber a half-mile from the crime scene, after a short pursuit over fences through a neighborhood.
The Spirit Bank at 48th and Harvard was robbed just after noon, and responding officers were directed into a neighborhood just west of the bank. Officers flooded the area and caught up with the suspect at 46th and Florence.
He was arrested and identified at the scene by a witness from the bank. Police say the robber arrived at Spirit Bank in a taxi, armed with a note and a backpack demanding the teller fill it with money. A weapon was implied but never seen. When the robber tried to leave, police say an employee tried to stop him, so the robber dropped the backpack and ran out.
Police searched the area where they caught him for a possible weapon but never found one. Officers at the scene said they recovered most or all of the money, and a review of the video from the bank matched the appearance of the suspect taken into custody.
Officers said no one was hurt during the robbery, pursuit, or arrest.
