We expect a lot of instability with the threat of severe weather coming this afternoon and evening, but things are quiet for the time being.
Our main low pressure system camped out over Arizona late Saturday night, which has caused wind warnings in that state, is projected to make its way into Oklahoma Sunday afternoon.
Around noon, some scattered showers are possible in the Oklahoma panhandle but most of the state will likely still be quiet.
According to our latest data, storms are expected to develop ahead of a dry line in far southwest Oklahoma. Those storms will quickly move to the north and east toward the Oklahoma City metro around 6 p.m.
These storms will not only bring rain but also the potential for damaging wind gusts around 70 miles per hour, golf ball-sized hail and isolated tornadoes.
Most of the storms will have moved out of our metro and toward northeast Oklahoma around 12 a.m. Monday.
