All Oklahoma Department of Corrections facilities are on lockdown after several gang-related incidents, DOC officials announced Friday.

The DOC said the incidents happened at these six facilities: Jim E. Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen, Mack Alford Correctional Center in Atoka, John H. Lilley Correctional Center in Boley, Lexington Assessment and Reception Center in Lexington, Dick Conner Correctional Center in Hominy, and Davis Correctional Facility in Holdenville.

Justin Wolf with the DOC told News On 6 these were inmate-on-inmate incidents, and everyone involved had serious injuries but should be OK.

"So, the incidents are under investigation now, and that's the kind of thing that our investigative agents are looking into to find out the details of it and how they might be related," said Wolf.

Wolf said during the lockdown, there will be challenges for staff and the 21,500 inmates across the state.

"Anything that inmates are usually able to do out in the yard or out in the facility, where an inmate can go receive a service, that same service has to now be provided at the cell, so things like medications, laundry, commissary, anything like that has to be delivered individually to every cell across the state,” explained Wolf.

Wolf said the department knows there will be disappointed families who won't be able to take advantage of the holiday weekend to see loved ones.

"It's unfortunate that this is going to affect visitation, so visitation will be canceled for the duration of this lockdown, but again, safety of our inmates and staff is always our top priority,” said Wolf.

Wolf said phone privileges could also be impacted, and that depends on how long the lockdown lasts.

The DOC said it is investigating which gangs may be involved and when it's safe to return to normal operations. News On 6 will monitor the situation and keep you updated.
