New CDC data shows more than 120,000 Oklahomans have gotten at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine since the beginning of the month.

With hospitals facing another surge in cases, the Oklahoma Nursing Association will be hosting a vaccination clinic from 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday, August 19. They hope with more vaccines being distributed, the toll on nurses will decline.

“The nurses that work in the transfer center have a mental toll being taken on them. They cannot get patients where they need to go in a timely manner,” said Kim Williams, the Director of the Transfer Center with Integris Health.

More than half of adults in Oklahoma are fully vaccinated, currently at 52%. More than 365,000 Oklahomans have one dose of the vaccine.

The Oklahoma Nursing Association plans on hosting another similar event to encourage Oklahomans to continue the trend.
