According to reports, Oklahoma City Public Schools intend to defy a state law banning school boards from instituting mask mandates.
Superintendent Sean McDaniel is expected to announce the mandate during a news conference Friday morning.
Within the last hour, News 9 talked to OKCPS school board Vice Chair Mark Mann. He did not confirm the mandate but said the board would back McDaniel.
"The entire board of the Oklahoma City Public Schools wants to do what's needed to protect our kids and make sure they are in the best position possible to be able to finish out the year in person learning," Mann said.
We will carry the news conference live on all platforms Friday morning.
