Body Found In Burned Truck Confirmed As Missing Cherokee County 18-Year-Old

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -

The Cherokee County Sheriff has confirmed that the body found in a burned truck outside Tahlequah earlier this month is that of a missing 18-year-old.

Braeden Collins’ mother reported him missing after he went to a party on July 4th. In searching for him, investigators found a burned body in a truck and the Medical Examiner used DNA to confirm it was Collins.

The Sheriff said the cause of death has not yet been determined and the ME’s office is doing a skull reconstruction that could take weeks.

Two men are in custody in connection to the case.
