An Oklahoma City woman was arrested on complaints of child abuse after three children told police they had been attacked.
According to the police report, a man told authorities his two sons, an 11-year-old and 6-year-old, called him saying their mother, identified as 32-year-old Sheila Marie Riggie, was abusing them and their 11-year-old cousin.
An officer responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. to a home located in the 3000 block of NW 41st St. The boys’ father stated he had to rescue the boys after they said Riggie allegedly threatened to cut their throats.
The man told police Riggie has a drinking problem and beats, bites and chokes the boys. He stated that it was getting worse and said he filed a report with DHS the week prior, but nothing was done.
Neighbors said they would hear yelling from time to time but never suspected any abuse.
“No not at all, we heard commotion, but we weren’t thinking it was to that extent. From the stuff we have been hearing there is a limit and I feel like they passed that,” said Teejay Adams, neighbor.
The boys had visible injuries, according to the report.
The children told police Riggie, “punched, kicked and bit them all and threw knives at them.”
The officer noted one victim had a swollen eye from being punched in the face and a cut on his back and chest. The child said Riggie tried to stab him with a screwdriver.
The second child had a bite mark on his cheek and forehead, according to the incident report.
All three ended up being turned over to the male as part of being taken into protective custody,” said MSgt. Gary Knight with OCPD.
Police went to Riggie’s home and arrested her.
She was taken to the Oklahoma County jail and booked on complaints of child abuse.
News 9 spoke to the ex-husband who made the call to police off camera, he said the children are healthy and doing better.
