Edmond city officials said high water levels at Arcadia Lake could prompt its closure for the Fourth of July weekend.

“Best case scenario… will be limited openings,” said city spokesperson Casey Moore.

All of the lake’s boat docks, several of its parks, trails and campsites closed due to high waters on Monday.

The Spring Creek Trial will be closed until next week.

Moore said Tuesday that the city could decide to close the lake entirely if waters continue to rise because of the increased safety risk.

“The main reason (Arcadia) lake was created was flood control, then water supply, then recreational use. It's just unfortunate it's happening on a holiday weekend,” he said.

Moore said the city would update its social media pages if any additional closures are announced.

As of Tuesday night, the water level of Arcadia Lake was just over 1,105 ft., according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
