An Oklahoma City company donated $20,000 this week to a locally headquartered international organization dedicated to helping children in Africa.

Paycom announced the presentation to the Maisha Project, an organization that works with abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children in the rural villages of Kenya. A spokesperson announced the money would be used to improve school sanitation and the organization's food provision program.

"We are so grateful for the life-changing gift of education and health provided by these funds,” said Beatrice Williamson, executive director at Maisha Project. “Maisha means ‘life’ in Swahili, and with this significant donation from Paycom’s employees, we aim to see orphans and destitute children thrive."

The donation is part of an employee-giving campaign at Paycom.

"The donation by our employees will help further Maisha Project’s feeding programs, improve school sanitation in Kenya and provide much-needed essentials for over 1,000 students," said AJ Griffin, Paycom’s director of government and community affairs. "We’re excited to be part of such an important cause and are proud to be able to help these villages in need."
